Grand Bend coffee shop owner and part-time private eye Jack Beer reluctantly accompanies his girlfriend Sheila to the annual Elvis festival in Collingwood Ontario. While there, he solves a kidnapping, only to find himself dragged into a murder investigation.

Suspicion falls on the victim’s wife, Elvis wannabes, local toughs, and the town’s movers and shakers, but the problem is, they’re all fakeout artists. And Jack looks like he’s next on the hit list.

Collingwood Fakeout is the second Jack Beer murder-mystery.

Jack Beer is the only part-time private eye and coffee shop owner in the tiny resort town of Grand Bend, which means the only competition he gets is from Tim Hortons, and they aren’t working cases. At least not yet.

Jack spends more time slicing pie than solving crimes, and he is normally called upon to use the skills and contacts he has from his years as a police officer to solve local problems. Until a woman from his past shows up and drags him into a world he thought he’d left behind.

In Rick Hundey’s debut murder-mystery, small-town Ontario boils with big-time trouble as Jack struggles to stay alive long enough to piece together the clues that will solve the mystery behind Death at the Bend.
